Fruit Infused Ice Cubes

Baby got back...

Baby got back...

How can I make fruit infused water any easier? Well, let us go ahead and pre-make the ice cubes so that we can just pop them into any glass of water.

You can now infuse any water anytime. The cubes keep the water cold as they melt and if you buy some cylinder cubes then bottle water also becomes a breeze.

I'm big on fresh mint. I put it into just about every combination of fruit water. Start with your favorite fruits then go from there....

Do I really need to tell you the ingredients for this one? Fruit and water....

Using spring/mineral water is a good alternative to the tap.

Here are the best combinations below:

  • Pineapple and Mint
  • Strawberry and Mint
  • Cucumber and Mint
  • Lemon, Lime, and Mint
  • Lime and Mint
  • Strawberry and Pineapple
  • Raspberry and Blackberry
  • Blueberry and Lemon
  • Apple and Blueberry
  • Rosemary and Lemon
  • Rosemary and Blueberry/Lemon

Honestly, if your mind can think of it and you love the flavor then it is do-able!

Directions:

1. Cut your fruit into bite-sized pieces and place in an ice cube tray of your choice. Do not fill trays more than half with your fruits or herbs.

  • For the cucumber/mint, I actually used a combination of whole pieces of Persian cucumber and chopped pieces.
  • When using blueberries give them a squeeze until they burst open before putting them inside the ice tray.

2. Fill remaining space in ice cube trays with water.

3. Cover trays and let them sit on the counter at room temperature for at least one hour to infuse the water.

4. Place trays into a freezer for 3 hours or until ice is solid.

5. Enjoy immediately for a flavor twist on the boring old basic glass of H2O.

Tips and Combinations

These cubes came out great. I used two types of ice cube trays just for variety. Freezing times vary based on what type of fruit.

I really think the cucumber mint is the best flavor. Rosemary is a wonderful flavor to add into water, but use it sparingly because it is strong in very small quantities.

I kept the core from the pineapple to flavor an entire pitcher of water.....I froze it.

If you wanted puree some of the strawberries or pineapples to make fruit cubes.
